CompetitionAds.com ("we," "our," or "us") is owned and operated by adyntel. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our website and Google Chrome extension. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Information We Collect
Chrome Extension Data
Our Chrome extension is free and does not require an account. It surfaces publicly available reach data from the Meta Ad Library and turns it into an estimated ad spend figure. The extension:
- Runs only on Meta Ad Library pages you open yourself (facebook.com/ads/library)
- Reads data that Meta already publishes publicly under the EU Digital Services Act
- Displays estimated ad spend directly on the Meta Ad Library interface
- Stores computed estimates in a local cache on your own device, so revisits are instant
- Sends no data to our servers while you browse the Ad Library
The extension does not read your Facebook account, your own ad accounts, your browsing history, or any site other than the Meta Ad Library.
The one exception is described under Advertiser Tracking below, and it only ever begins with a button you press yourself.
Advertiser Tracking (only if you press "Track advertiser")
Tracking an advertiser is a paid feature you start yourself, by pressing the ＋ Track advertiser button on an advertiser's page in the Meta Ad Library. Until you press it, nothing about your browsing reaches us. When you do press it, the extension sends us:
- The Meta page identifier and public page name of the advertiser you chose to follow
- The country filter currently applied to the Ad Library
- Your extension identifier, so we know which account to attach it to
From then on we collect that advertiser's public ad data from Meta on our own servers, on a schedule. Your browser is not involved in that, and we do not record which ads you look at, when you look at them, or anything else you do in the Ad Library. You can stop tracking an advertiser at any time from your dashboard.
CSV Export (only if you press "Export CSV")
The spreadsheet is built inside your browser from the estimates already on screen. To count your free exports, the extension sends us your extension identifier and the number of rows exported — nothing about which advertiser or which ads.
Ad Library Request Token (tracking subscribers only)
Meta's Ad Library requires a short-lived request token that it will only issue to a real browser. To collect the advertisers you have asked us to track, we need one. If you are signed in and already tracking at least one advertiser, the extension passes us that token while you are on an Ad Library page.
The token is a short random string issued by Meta. It contains no information about you, no information about what you were viewing, and is not tied to your Facebook account — we send our requests to Meta without any account credentials. We send only the token itself: no page address, no advertiser, no browsing history. Tokens are discarded within hours. If you track nothing, no token is ever requested or sent.
Extension Identifier (only if you link an account)
If you choose to visit CompetitionAds.com to link an account, the extension generates a device identifier and sends it to us so we can associate your browser with your account. This identifier is derived from general browser characteristics and a random value. It is created and transmitted only when you visit our own website — never while you are using the Meta Ad Library. If you never link an account, it is never sent.
Website Usage
When you visit CompetitionAds.com, we do not use cookies or tracking technologies. We do not collect personal information about your browsing behavior on our website.
Account Information
Accounts are optional and are not needed to use the extension. If you do create one, we collect the information necessary to provide our services, such as your email address and subscription status. This information is managed through our authentication provider (Clerk) and is used solely for account management and service delivery.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and improve our Chrome extension service
- To maintain and improve the functionality of CompetitionAds.com
- To link your browser to your account, if you choose to create one
- To manage your account and subscription (if applicable)
- To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
We do not use your data for advertising purposes, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share, sell, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
